Standing Proud ...

Today was one of the toughest days ... my son has drifted in and out of his likeness to dresses ... he has worn them to school for days in a row and then gone weeks without a request at all.

Well today was picture day. I had my typical cargo pants and button up shirt laid out ... spiked his hair up and sent him off to his room to get his shoes ... he returned with one of the pink tank tops of mine we turned into a dress and asked if he could wear that instead for his picture. After careful thought ... my first words were "of course". After all, isn't a picture just a reflection of a person at that particular time in their life. And at this time in my son's life he says dresses give him super pattern powers (this is from his favorite show Team Umizoomi). How could I explain that some days it’s okay for him to wear his dress and some days he can’t. So I put the dress on over his outfit and off we went.
(that tank top use to be down to his knees … he has grown up so much)

I told his teachers that before pictures they could ask him if he wanted to take off the dress but it was his choice. He had the biggest smile in his pictures and I can't wait to share them with everyone. He is my amazing son who is unique and wonderful and his favorite color is pink.
