Adventures in Pottytraining

Its been a few weeks since I have blogged but there really hasn't been much to write about. We are a busy little family just in everyday things (work, school, cleaning, etc) that there isn't much time for anything else.

However, this past weekend we have decided to tread into unknown territory ... potty training. Levi is still a little on the young side of what is "textbook" age for potty training but after discussions with his teachers and comments from Levi like "I don't need to use the potty I have a diaper" ... we have decided it is time.

So Friday night after school we talked about how it was going to be. We pulled out the plain white undies and the star stickers (character undies are for when he can keep his pants dry for extended periods of time ... yo gabba gabba doesn't know how to swim). He didn't seem to get the picture but we forged on.

Saturday was an exhausting venture of 30 minute intervals of potty runs that only lead to about 50% success, lots of wet undies and a very frustrated momma. He was very excited about the star stickers on the back of the potty though (and mommas little song and dance when he was successfully dry and peed on the potty). We also made a successful trip to Publix where he actually told me he needed to pee and went and stayed dry the whole trip ... until we hit the parking garage at the apartment complex (a 5 minute drive from Publix to home). I was at a loss at this point. I put him to bed just exhausted and not even sure I was willing to venture out to church on Sunday.

Sunday I decided to go to church. He just moved up to a new class so I wasn't sure how the teachers would do with this new potty training adventure so I had decided to put him in a diaper. He made it to church with a dry diaper and he went potty before class. When I told the teacher we were potty training she was thrilled but made me take the diaper off and put on his undies (i had brought them in my purse since I wasn't sure). He stayed dry all through Sunday school ... and then all through our church picnic. He got a pack of little skittles for making it all morning dry. After nap we put out big boy undies back on and had a great night again with no accidents. I have never been so proud (and Levi seemed so proud of his stars on the potty too).

So Sunday night we put on his diaper for bed and he went down about 8pm. Well between 8 and about 915 he called for me twice to tell me he needed to potty ... and yes he actually did need to go. So yeah I know I should be excited that he was telling me he needed to go but I need him to tell me during the day when he is in underwear .. not at night when he has on the diaper haha.

So today will be a true test. He is at school with a room full of kids (some potty trained, some not). So we will see how many pairs of undies I will have to wash tonight.
